A pilgrimage to Lourdes is a dream for any Catholic. So when we went on the pilgrimage (my parents, my sister Fatima and her husband Rene, and me of course), I can barely contain my excitement, it was literally a dream come true! The night before the trip, I prepared 3 1-¾ liter water bottles that I planned to fill with the miraculous waters of Lourdes.
From Quincampoix, we flew to Lourdes and arrived about 10:00am — a flight of approximately two hours. The Rosary Basilica is packed with pilgrims from all over the world and more so the Grotto of Massabielle, which we visited last.
The granite walls of the grotto are now literally glass-smooth to the touch — the result of a simple act as a touch of the hand from millions of visitors that have visit Lourdes for the past 150 years or so.
I was able to fill my plastic bottles with water from the grotto and took it home with me. The next time I visit Lourdes, I will take along more bottles and do what some people I saw did — take a bath in the waters of Lourdes.
